What We Do

Development Cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and Republic of Serbia is focused on three key areas agreed jointly by the governments of the two countries. The goal of German support has been to bring Serbia closer to the European Union, to strengthen the efficiency of the economy and to improve the living standards of citizens.

Where We Do It

The funds of Development Cooperation with Serbia are primarily from the budget of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Main implementing organisations are Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and KfW Development Bank (KfW). The projects span the entire territory of Serbia.

How We Do It

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), supports Serbia through numerous bilateral and regional projects, providing support to the public, private and civil sectors in the Republic of Serbia for more than 20 years. Since 2000, the Federal Republic of Germany has allocated 2 billion euros for Serbia through direct aid as well as through EU funds, which represents the largest single amount of development aid that any country has provided to Serbia.

“As the German ambassador, I want, among other things, to improve the exchange between our countries on all levels and for Serbia to soon fulfill the conditions for joining the European Union.”
