In order to support digital platform for distance teaching during the state of emergency in Serbia, the German Development Cooperation project “Dialogue on Employment Creation, Initiative and Dual Education” (DECIDE), provides equipment for two studios where classes for distance dual education will be recorded.

The distance learning platform developed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia enables continuing education for students in Serbia who can’t attend classes because of the corona virus outbreak. Specific challenge in these hard times is organization of work-based learning that should take place in companies cooperating with schools within the process of dual education.

Highlighting the importance of German Development Cooperation assistance in this field, Prof. Dr. Gabrijela Grujic, the Assistant Minister for Dual Education at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, stated that dual education proves to be the model of education which enables faster transfer of knowledge required these days.

“I am pleased to say that this time we have the support of the German Government through GIZ, which will help us to equip two studios, in Belgrade and Subotica, where we will be able to continue recording these materials in both Serbian and Hungarian languages. We are monitoring what is provided for all students in the learning process in companies and we also strive to include students of national minorities, so that everyone can participate equally in this process”, stated Ms Gabrijela Grujic.

Within DECIDE project German development Cooperation will support the transformation of classrooms in two vocational schools, Technical school in Subotica and Air Force Academy in Belgrade, into studios where classes will be held. School teachers and company instructors will take part in the process of  recording of teaching units both in companies and in schools. Classes are being continuously filmed and broadcasted daily on national television channel RTS. Each school will get an interactive monitor and special projector needed for the filming purposes. In addition to that, two interactive or so-called smart boards will be purchased and given to schools.

This equipment will not only enable good quality distance teaching in the state of emergency, but it will also be used by schools afterwards for educational purposes.

The German Development Cooperation project Decide is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It started in January 2020 with the aim to advance education offerings and trainings in line with the labor market requirements in selected municipalities and contribute to dual education through support for educational institutions and economy.
