Belgrade, 12 June – Work-based learning is a way of education that enables students to experience modern forms of work and acquire competencies in a real work environment. This is the key message of the international conference Work-Based Learning: the Road to Opportunity.
The conference was organised between the Serbian Ministry for Education, Science and Technological Development, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the German Corporation for International Cooperation GIZ, together with the Austrian Development Cooperation and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The results in developing and establishing a policy of work-based learning in Serbia were showcased, and the viewpoints of schools and companies that took part were presented.
Participants of the conference had the opportunity to learn about the results of the project of the German Development Cooperation “Reform of Vocational Education and Training in Serbia”, carried out by GIZ and financed by the German Government. The Project was launched in April 2013 to support the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development in the introduction of dual education elements in the formal system of vocational education.
Those present could learn of the experience acquired so far by schools and companies jointly participating in student education; similar practices of cooperation between businesses and schools in West Balkan countries were also discussed.
